The Third Beast

"After this I kept looking, and behold, another one, like a leopard, which had on its back four wings of a fowl; the beast also had four heads, and dominion was given to it. (Daniel 7:6)

This is clearly a strange looking beast. Throughout the Church Age this type of imagery has troubled readers of Revelation and often inclined them to abstain from studying end time events. For several weeks The Holy Spirit has impressed on my heart that there is an urgency to obtain an understanding of the symbolism in the Apocalypse.

Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of the prophecy, and heed the things which are written in it; for the time is near.
(Revelation 1:3)

WE know from previous post that the beast represents kingdoms or nations and that kingdom’s ruler or government.

17        'These great beasts, which are four in number, are four kings who will arise from the earth.
23        "Thus he said: 'The fourth beast will be a fourth kingdom on the earth....
(Daniel 7)

The third beast is a leopard with four heads and four wings of a fowl.  The leopard is the unofficial symbol of Germany. It’s interesting that the German Leopard Tank has become one of the world’s foremost tanks.

and dominion was given to it. (Daniel 7:6)

Germany has been the dominant nation in Europe for the last 100 years and Germany was the prominent leader of the Holy Roman Empire (AKA the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation) for the last 1200 years.
the beast also had four heads
Multiple heads on a beast portray the number of times that nation will rise and fall.  Germany’s Third Reich fell with the defeat of Hitler in World War 2, and they are now in the Fourth Reich.
which had on its back four wings of a fowl
The four wings of a fowl very likely refer to the Franco-German alliance.  The official animal symbol of France is a rooster.
Keep in mind that the nations of this prophesy will one day form an alliance which will result in a one world government and a universal religion  that all of the inhabitants of the earth will worship and follow after. The stage is being set now and  Germany will play a vital role as the heart of the revitalized Holy Roman Empire.

I have been considering what are some of the reasons the entire world would fall in line with a New World Order and was led by The Holy Spirit to research Germany. I found what I consider very interesting facts concerning the German economy

German Economy Expands at Fastest Pace in Two Decades Amid Export Demand

Gross domestic product jumped 3.6 percent, the most since data for a reunified Germany began in 1992
The Bundesbank expects Europe’s largest economy to expand 2 percent this year and 1.5 percent in 2012 as the sovereign debt crisis damps demand in the euro area, its main export market. (Bloomberg.com)

German economy to grow faster in 2011 than expected

If the forecast holds, it would represent a reduction in the growth of the German economy compared to 2010. But last year was a banner year for Germany as it pulled itself out of the global recession. Figures released last week showed that Germany's economy expanded by 3.6 percent in 2010, the fastest pace since reunification twenty years ago.

One other interesting fact about modern day Germany is their alliance with France who is considered very passive which historically is not in the interest of Germany. The bible tells of a false peace treaty that Israel will enter with the government of the antichrist. Germany has become a forerunner in advocating the pursuit of global peace emphasizing pacifism, non-violent resistance and diplomacy as a government model.

As you can see, it is very important to be aware of current events as they relate to prophesy.

"But as for you, Daniel, conceal these words and seal up the book until the end of time; many will go back and forth, and knowledge will increase."

These prophesies were not intended to be understood until the end of time, which is now, and knowledge is increasing! The entire Apocalypse is being revealed to those who earnestly seek truth and will be very beneficial for the cause of Christ and the advancement of His Kingdom.

The Bear of Daniel

We learned in the previous post that a beast always represents a kingdom or nation along with the ruler of that kingdom or nation. We also learned that these nations will be on the earth at the time of the second coming of Jesus Christ.

Now let’s take a look at the second beast in this prophesy as we pick up in Daniel 7:5

"And behold, another beast, a second one, resembling a bear. And it was raised up on one side, and three ribs were in its mouth between its teeth; and thus they said to it, 'Arise, devour much meat!'

Do you know that there is a major nation today who is internationally recognized symbol is the bear?

The most widely distributed magazine in history used the symbol of the bear which was also prophesied 2500 years ago in your  bible to depict Russia.
The bear has long been associated with Russia. For over 100 years it has been a mainly derogatory image in Western political cartoons. Yet for thousands of years, the bear has had positive connotations to Slavs. It appears on countless Russian town shields, lovable bear characters abound in cartoons, and the bear Misha was especially beloved as the 1980 Summer Olympics mascot.

The purpose of understanding the countries that these beast represent are critical for the church to be able to discern the time lines of prophesy as they apply to current events. We will learn about the leopard and the ten horned beast in upcoming post as well as where the Antichrist will come from!

The United States in Prophesy

In this post we will begin to look at symbolism in the 7th chapter of Daniel.

Daniel 7: Vision of the Four Beasts
1    In the first year of Belshazzar king of Babylon Daniel saw a dream and visions in his mind as he lay on his bed; then he wrote the dream down and related the following summary of it.
2    Daniel said, "I was looking in my vision by night, and behold, the four winds of heaven were stirring up the great sea.
3    "And four great beasts were coming up from the sea, different from one another.

The symbols that we will be examining today are the beast. When we have a good understanding of what these beast refer to then we can determine what value they have for us today. The bible does not leave us trying to guess what the beast represent but it tells us in verse 17.

17    'These great beasts, which are four in number, are four kings who will arise from the earth.

We now see that these beast represent kings, leaders or presidents that will arise but if we continue to read we find in verse 23 that the beast also represent a kingdom that will rise up on the earth.

23    "Thus he said: 'The fourth beast will be a fourth kingdom on the earth....

From these verses we now know that the vision that Daniel had will be the rising of kingdoms or nations and the king or president of that kingdom or nation. Now lets look at the first beast.

4    "The first was like a lion and had the wings of an eagle. I kept looking until its wings were plucked, and it was lifted up from the ground and made to stand on two feet like a man; a human mind also was given to it.

God is not random when he uses symbolism in scripture. We know that this lion represents a kingdom and its ruler or government so we need to see if there is a nation that is universally known as being represented by the lion. In Websters 3rd Addition Dictionary if you look up lion it says, a symbol of a country....Great Britain.
In Trafalgar Square in London, England Great Britain there are statues of lions all over the place. The lion is the official emblem of Great Britain. So God is telling that Great Britain will be one of the nations that is on the earth when this prophesy is fulfilled.

Now while the lion is the beast we still have the issue of the wings of an eagle. The vision states, I kept looking until its wings were plucked, and it was lifted up from the ground and made to stand on two feet like a man; a human mind also was given to it.

Where do we see an emblem of the wings of an eagle? The back of the dollar bill of The United States! The bald eagle has been the official emblem of the U.S.A. since 1782, just six years since the USA came out of Great Britain. This prophesy was written over 2500 years ago and foretold of the rise of the U.S. from Great Britain. The vision continues with and it was lifted up from the ground and made to stand on two feet like a man; a human mind also was given to it. Keep in mind that we are still looking at symbolism that refers to nations and, or a leader or government of a nation. The wings that Daniel saw were separated from the lion, lifted up to stand on two feet like a man and given a human mind.
Uncle Sam has been a popular name and icon representing the government of the United States since 1820.

Great Britain and The United States are currently two major players in World government and we will look at the other beast to determine what country they represent and then we will look at God's plans for these governments as we near the end of the age.

Symbols in Bible Prophesy

Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of the prophecy, and heed the things which are written in it; for the time is near. (Revelation 1:3) NKJV
In the very early stages of my walk with The Lord, I was intrigued by prophesy. I loved to study prophesy that was written and later fulfilled in Scripture, but my favorite was to see fulfillment that has happened since the completion of the written word. In my early studies, I was not familiar with God’s use of symbolism so I relied on the teachers of the day and accepted what I read as truth. I do not mean to speak negative against the well intended, people of faith who taught what was generally accepted interpretations. Part of the problem was that the understanding was time sensitive and bible teachers were trying to explain something which could not be seen. To understand prophesy, it is important to understand the symbols that are used. We will use Scripture to interpret symbols and we will integrate current events to shed light on the vision of God. God’s use of symbolism is consistent throughout the bible but we will particularly be focusing on Daniel and Revelation. Our first study of symbolism will begin with the four beasts in Daniel 7 and how they relate to the beast in Revelation 13. All events and numbers in Revelation are to be understood as their literal meaning unless stated otherwise in Scripture. This is very common and is what I mean by using Scripture to interpret Scripture. With the advent of bible software, this process of interpretation has become very valuable to all students of the bible. This has just been an introduction of the necessity of understanding symbolism in the study of future events. Some will question why understanding future events is so necessary and we will cover that in depth in future post. For now, just glance back up to the verse at the beginning of this post and trust there is a very good reason Jesus included this in his plans for those he loves.

Discerning the Times

"If you had known in this day, even you, the things which make for peace! But now they have been hidden from your eyes. For the days will come upon you when your enemies will throw up a barricade against you, and surround you and hem you in on every side, and they will level you to the ground and your children within you, and they will not leave in you one stone upon another, because you did not recognize the time of your visitation."

These words of Jesus recorded in Luke 19 clearly state the importance of recognizing the signs of the times. His chosen people did not recognize His first coming, and He is warning the Church that it is imperative that we do not make the same mistake. I believe that the bible gives straight forward directions on the course of the believers during the critical times that we have now entered. There is a call going out to this generation to gain wisdom through an understanding of the scriptures that is becoming rapidly relevant yet not previously understood.  "But as for you, Daniel, conceal these words and seal up the book until the end of time; many will go back and forth, and knowledge will increase." (Daniel 12:4) NKJV.   When King David came in to power and was recruiting the military from the Tribes of Israel, a special designation was give to “The Sons of Issachar, men who understood the times, with knowledge of what Israel should do” (1 Chronicles 12:32) NKJV. As we continue with the post on the Revelation blog, it is my goal to assist in leading you in to an understanding of Scripture concerning the ministry of the Church during the dramatic and perilous end of the age events.

Introduction from Anthony Lee

My goal in this blog is to provide the reader with information from bible prophesy as it relates to 21st century events. I believe we are in the early stages of the last natural generation before Christ returns to set up His Kingdom on Earth. The Church is involved in a battle with a worldwide empire that is currently under demonic influence. The results of the Antichrist spirit that has infiltrated every government on the face of the earth will soon be bringing even greater oppression than we have now witnessed. This is not a doomsday prophesy for believers. The fear tactics of many evangelical preachers have created a sense of dread for their Parishioners, leading them to fear the end of the world. As believers we should all be rejoicing with excitement rather than fear, because Christ will soon be replacing this evil, corrupt system that we live in with His perfect government.
In these post I will be sharing as The Holy Spirit leads. May God bless you richly as we journey together for the cause of Christ.
