The Bear of Daniel

We learned in the previous post that a beast always represents a kingdom or nation along with the ruler of that kingdom or nation. We also learned that these nations will be on the earth at the time of the second coming of Jesus Christ.

Now let’s take a look at the second beast in this prophesy as we pick up in Daniel 7:5

"And behold, another beast, a second one, resembling a bear. And it was raised up on one side, and three ribs were in its mouth between its teeth; and thus they said to it, 'Arise, devour much meat!'

Do you know that there is a major nation today who is internationally recognized symbol is the bear?

The most widely distributed magazine in history used the symbol of the bear which was also prophesied 2500 years ago in your  bible to depict Russia.
The bear has long been associated with Russia. For over 100 years it has been a mainly derogatory image in Western political cartoons. Yet for thousands of years, the bear has had positive connotations to Slavs. It appears on countless Russian town shields, lovable bear characters abound in cartoons, and the bear Misha was especially beloved as the 1980 Summer Olympics mascot.

The purpose of understanding the countries that these beast represent are critical for the church to be able to discern the time lines of prophesy as they apply to current events. We will learn about the leopard and the ten horned beast in upcoming post as well as where the Antichrist will come from!
